Amazon today announced it has completed its $ane billion acquisition of smart habitation device maker Ring, and is jubilant the occasion by dropping the price of the visitor's Video Doorbell. Previously priced at $132.99, the original Ring Video Doorbell can now be yours for just $99.99.
The device earned a "good" rating in PCMag'due south 2022 review, nabbing props for its piece of cake installation, Hd video, cloud recording, and movement-detection notifications. On the down side, we noted that "sound could be better" and that it has a "short bombardment life."
The Ring Video Doorbell "uses an Hard disk (720p) camera and your home's Wi-Fi network to sound a chime and send real-time video to your smartphone when someone presses the Ring button," we wrote. "Information technology installs in minutes and delivers high-quality video, though audio quality could be better and the internal battery doesn't last very long between charges."
Meanwhile, the newer Ring Video Doorbell 2 and the Pro model are not receiving toll cuts. Both received "excellent" marks in PCMag's reviews, and the Pro earned our coveted Editors' Choice laurels.
In a news release today, Amazon said Ring will keep operating under its existing brand. "Customers will not feel any interruption in service and tin can contact the advisable company'southward customer service team with any questions or issues," the company wrote.
